A massive 7 bore (.875") flintlock big game rifle by Jover, circa 1790, 50½" overall, re-browned octagonal twist barrel 34", with very deep narrow 3 groove rifling, platinum line at breech, platinum touch hole, gold poincon of D. Egg (worn), and single folding leaf rearsight; flat stepped lock with semi rainproof pan, safety bolt, and large roller on the frizzen spring, the plate signed "Jover" in flowing script and engraved with a tiger on the tail; dark varnished half stock with horn fore end cap, chequered wrist, and silver barrel wedge plates and escutcheon; steel mounts including large scrolled trigger guard engraved with a tiger on the bow, tiger finial, and housing a single set trigger, the butt plate tang naively engraved with a bear; within brass mounted ebony ramrod.
